Are you one of those people, that for all the endless chatter about "blogs", have privately, quietly, never quite grasped the concept?
Maybe you get the basic idea, that a blog is a web-based vehicle for personality X to mouth off, pontificate, and yammer about whatever it is they think they know or feel, that day, or minute.
And yet, every time you consider the "blogosphere", you're left with this feeling of confused indifference, wondering why the effort?, why the hoopla over Joe Random's yammerings? Not to mention a slight queesy feeling at the word "blogosphere", which evokes a sort of bloggish feeling in the gut.
Well, I've always felt the same way, but as a web designer, I decided to do take action! Because, despite the queesies that I've also had about blogland, I also can't deny that there's something beautiful about so many peoples getting a chance to mouth off. I mean, hey, it's democratic.
So I thought a fair bit about what it was that turned me off of the blog. Here were some my problems.
-- Tried setting up a blog, but ??? - so consfusing - templates, html, css, php, javascript - YUK!
-- Self-indulgence! I guess there's nothing wrong with that, but the whole "read my blog" thing just seemed a little tired.
-- I could never find blog posts that I actually care about.
-- "blog" - that word is just kind of gross
And so, 11teen versions later, and with the technical help of a great programmer, Guo Huang, I think I've come up with a fine alternative. flynote.com. It aims to address the above ...
-- No setup. No templates. No coding. No customizations. It's just a bare-bones simple way to make your statement. Post a note. Just a super-simple registration to get started.
-- Not so much self-indulgence with flynote, because all posts go into a big beautiful pool, mixed in with everyone else. Our popular filter sets the, well, popular ones apart.
-- Flynote is uber-searchable. Search just your own notes, everybody else's, or just notes that you've saved to your favorites.
-- flynote. now that's just poetry :)
Anyway, give it a try. Post some notes. Or see what the other flynoters are posting these days.
